For many centuries, have followed in the ecclesiastical history of Salemi, high-profile figures who have had significant concessions by the Holy See, one of this was to bring in their city bodies of holy martyrs (of which today but we have no news of veriterie).
1) S. Enlightened vm is in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
There is no news on the biography of the saint, we know that our fellow citizen, Joseph Augustine the Mistretta, Salemi led to this body and was placed in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Inside the urn we find this holy robes and wearing looks like a noble but is not a religion. Most likely is one of several martyred saints under persecution.
2) S. Vincenza vm. is located in the Church of St. Augustine.
3) S. Venera m . is located in the current array, a former Jesuit College.
( News hagiographic on behalf of the Santa ) Santa Venera was born on Good Friday year 100 AD, the Roman baths in the area Xiphonie near Acireale (also called Terme di S. Venera al Pozzo) daughter of two Christian nobles of Gaul , Agathon and Hippolyte, who wanted to call Venera in memory of the lucky day for the Roman goddess.
consecrated herself to God , Venera studied Bible and the lives of martyrs and, after the death of their parents, it would be dedicated for ten years caring for the poor and the sick, selling all the assets inherited in favor of the latter. According to tradition, Venera would preach the Gospel message in its Sicily and then in Campania and Calabria . There would have been arrested in Locri Antonio by the prefect, who had tried in vain to bring it to Roman religion, with the first call and then even with terrible tortures from which, however, would be released unharmed Venera.
After this experience, Venera would resume missionary work, covering almost all provinces of Magna Grecia and converting many people, until a new arrest by local authorities (in particular, is the name of some Temio ), which would receive additional torture but from which, again, would come out unscathed.
According to tradition, would die in Venera Gallia following a sentence to beheaded and his body left unburied as long as some Christians would have shifted to Ascoli Piceno , where he would be revered until the fourth century , when he was transferred to Rome a 14 November .
According to a different tradition, however, would die the Venera July 26 of 143 AD, but in Sicily by decapitation rather than in Gaul, and precisely in the same place where it is supposed to be born. Now these bones are kept in the sacristy and wait to regain a proper remembrance and respect. A Taormina a local tradition relates the discovery of tools used for the martyrdom of Venera.

4) S. Victorian m. is located in the Santa Casa di Loreto .
( News hagiographic the name of the holy ) In 1715 came directly from Rome, the whole body of the saint. San Victorian mistakenly identified with the eponymous holy martyr of Carthage also celebrated on 23 March. Tradition has it that the remains of the Carthaginian martyr to the sixth century would come Roman catacombs of protest and then extracted only in 1736. E ', however, unlikely that an African martyr had buried in a catacomb in Rome, where he was forgotten for centuries, instead of having a proper burial in a Roman church. Even the prestigious Bibliotheca Sanctorum makes no reference to any transfer of the relics of St. Victorian Carthage to Rome, Naples and finally to Canneto, thus giving indirect confirmation of the hypothesis that it is a "sacred body" whose life is not is no news and then we tried to remedy this by associating a certain historical figure.
According to what has been handed down when he arrived at this body Salemi many miracles and healings have occurred.
5) S. M happy . is located in the array now under the main altar of the Matrix.
(News hagiographic the name of the holy ) The saints Felix and Rule, and Essuperanzio their servant, were unlikely to be related to the famous legends of the Theban Legion and escaped the massacre of Agauno (today Saint-Maurice Switzerland), reached the nearby city of Zurich is dedicated to the evangelization of the local population before being killed themselves in hatred of the Christian faith by decapitation. Zurich with the whole diocese worship such heavenly patrons especially happy and regulations and the new Martyrologium Romanum recalls today.
6) S. Fedele m . disappeared, was in the Church of St. Joseph.
There is no news nor on the biography nor one who has brought in Salemi, Salemi Bavaria writer only mentions the presence of this body that now you do not know where it was placed.
7) S. Clement m. is located in the Church of St. Clemente.
( News hagiographic the name of the holy ) The Roman Martyrology commemorates the November 14 a group of three martyrs of Heraclea in Thrace: Clementino, Theodotus and Filomeno. This term comes from Floro, who had taken the Martyrology Geronimiano the same day. The fourth-century Syriac Martyrology, Perint knows, that Eraclea, the two martyrs Theodotus and Demetrius, priests, and we can therefore be considered as martyrs in Eraclea these last two. As for Clementine he could be identified as a martyr commemorated by the eponymous African Martyrology Geronimiano November 11. (see page on the canvas of this Church) http://matricesalemi.blogspot.com/2007/07/immagini-delle-tele-della-chiesa-di-s.html ).
The city, especially in this parish, has many relics of saints with the precious relics, some of which can now be admired in the Museo degli Argenti in the church of S. Augustine.
An example would be the relic that is kept in the array in one of the side chapels, which are preserved many relics of saints, some other unknown known as St. Cosmas and Damian, the entire skull of S. Desire and many others that you can view by going to the foot of this altar.
