Il Balthasar è senza dubbio il più grande teologo cattolico del novecento e la Speyr , mistica straordinaria, è la sua " musa ispiratrice ".
Adrienne nacque protestante, divenne medico e grazie all'incontro con l'allora gesuita Balthasar, si convertì al cattolicesimo, ricevendo il battesimo nella solennità di Ognissanti del 1940.
